ABOUT THE PROGRAM
For just about as long as we’ve been producing plays in Hamilton Park, we’ve been teaching students how to act. It all starts with our Youth Summer Theatre Program.
The Seven Angels Youth Summer Theatre Program presents a unique format that students have been happily returning to year after year. Every morning is spent with students rotating between acting, dance, and singing instruction, all led by an experienced professional teacher. In the afternoon, the students have the thrill of performing a smaller-sized version of a Broadway musical. On Friday afternoons, family and friends are invited to come and watch the students perform all of the things they have been working on during the week. The following week, it is done all over again with different material so students can attend week after week and always get the thrill of experiencing new and different things.
Acting classes help younger students learn to come out of their shell and be energetic. At the same time, older students work on the more advanced skills of comic timing and character acting. Youngsters begin to experience the audience-pleasing excitement of dancing together while the older students explore hip-hop, jazz, and a variety of other dance styles. Our music teachers develop the projection and range of these young voices and then lead them through explorations of music ranging from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Hamilton.
To ensure that this experience is enjoyed by as many area youth as possible, Seven Angels Theatre has teamed up with generous local donors to offer scholarships to as many students as we possibly can.
