Pa’lante Theater Company, a program of the Afro Caribbean Cultural Center today announced the first-annual Afro-Latine Film Festival dedicated to filmmaking featuring Afro-Latine films that highlight and celebrate the diaspora. The inaugural Afro-Latine Film Festival will be held June 16 – 18, 2023 and feature short films, music videos, documentary and fictional films that focus celebrating and showing the stories, people and voices of the Afro-Latine communities and cultures. Pa’lante Theater Company, Waterbury’s newest performing arts collaborative, is proud to partner with Seven Angels Theater on Pa’lante’s inaugural 2023 season. “Pa’lante Theater is a part of the Afro Caribbean Cultural Center and has a mission to present and celebrate works that showcase and highlight the rich African/Afro-Latine/Latine experience,” said Nelson Rafael Feliciano-Roman, Artistic Director/Founder.
“Theater and arts need to be reflective of the community in which it lives,” said Feliciano-Roman. Pa’lante Theater Company is co-founded by Rafael, Zelest Caraballo, who also serves as the Company Stage Manager, Set Designer/Props Master and Angelica Huertas who serves as Company Manager and Sound/Lighting Designer. The 2023 season will be mounted at and in collaboration with Seven Angels Theatre.
