AUDITIONS for Seven Angels MainStage

Seven Angels Theatre, now it in 34th year is producing the A BRONX TALE: The Musical by Chazz Palminteri, Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Glenn Slater
Synopsis:
It’s 1960. After witnessing a mob hit on his stoop, nine year-old Calogero grows up torn between Lorenzo, his upstanding father, and Sonny, the mob boss who takes him under his wing.  Years later, the neighborhood pressure builds as Calogero decides to date Jane, a black girl from a rival neighborhood. A Bronx Tale is a coming of age story of a young Italian-American boy growing up on the tough streets of the Bronx.
Seven Angels Theatre has received numerous artistic and community awards over the years from the State of CT and the Connecticut Critics Circle.

SEEKING

Young Calogero – to play 9 years old. Italian- American. Strong singer/actor/ able to move. Spunky and charming. Big personality.

Calogero – 20-28 (to play 17) – Italian-American from the Bronx. Strong singer/actor. Bari-tenor. Intelligent; head-strong; tough but sensitive. Our protagonist. Seamlessly shifts from audience addresses to 60’s Bronx. Torn between the glamour of mob life, and the strong moral influences of his parents.

Lorenzo – 40-50 Italian-American. Calogero’s father. Strong singer (to Ab). Upstanding. Blue collar bus driver trying to raise his son the right way in a tough environment.

Tyrone – 18-25. Jane’s brother. African American from the Bronx. Tyrone gets beat up by Calogero’s friends. Strong singer/actor/dancer. Stage combat skills a plus. Athletic.

Jesse – 18-25 African American. Tyrone’s friend. Stage combat skills a plus. Strong singer/dancer.

Denise – 17-25 (to play 17). Jane’s friend. Strong singer/dancer. Tries to warn Jane about dating a white guy.

Frieda – 17-25 (to play 17) Jane’s friend. Strong singer/dancer.

Tony – 35-55. Sonny’s bodyguard. Imposing wise guy with a keen sense of comedic timing. Stage combat skills a plus. Sings.

Frankie Coffeecake – 35-55. One of Sonny’s crew. Slender, funny, tough. Stage combat skills a plus. Sings.

Jo Jo the Whale. 35-55. Wise guy. As described in the script: “Five foot eight, 400 pounds.” Moves well. Sings. Stage combat skills a plus.

Eddie Mush – 35-55 Wise guy. One of Sonny’s crew. Character actor – mopey; always bringing bad luck. Sings. Stage combat skills a plus.

Rudy the Voice – 35-50 Wise guy. Bartender at Sonny’s hang out. Frustrated lounge-type singer. Stage combat skills a plus.

Carmine – 35-50 Imposing wise guy. Strong actor who can play multiple roles. Singer who moves well. Stage combat skills necessary.

Slick/Doo Wop Guy – 20-28 (to play 17) Calogero’s friend. Bass/Baritone in a cappella group. Dancer. Tough kid from the neighborhood. Eager to rumble with the Tyrone and Jesse’s crew. Stage combat skills a plus.

Handsome Nick/ Doo Wop Guy – 20-28 (to play 17) Also part of Calogero’s crew. Tight a capella harmonies required. Good dancer. Stage combat skills a plus.

Crazy Mario/Doo Wop Guy – (20- 32) Tough Italian-American from the neighborhood. Funny – without trying. Tight a capella harmonies required. Good dancer. Stage combat skills a plus.

Doo Wop Guy – 20-30- Strong singer/dancer. Tight a cappella harmonies.

Wiseguy – 25-40 – Tough guy from the neighborhood.

3 Italian Girls – Neighborhood girls from the Bronx. Strong singer/dancers.

Seven Angels Theatre, now it in 34th year, is producing the World Premiere of JBKO by Tom Santopietro. JBKO is a one woman play about the life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. In non-linear fashion the play depicts key events in her life ranging from her wedding to John Kennedy in 1953 to her death in 1994.

SEEKING

ACTOR to fulfill the following role:

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (She/Her). American blue-blood. Newly married to Senator John F. Kennedy, First Lady, Mother, Widow, Wife of Aristotle Onassis, Book Editor.

Character Age ranges from age 25 to age 63

ACTOR AGE RANGE: 35-55

In her journey from aristocrat to First Lady to working woman, Jackie’s place in American society mirrors the transformation of the roles assumed by 20th Century American women. Note: It is not necessary to speak in Jackie’s whispery voice.
